The amount of fabric you need to reupholster a dining chair depends on the size and style of the chair, as well as which parts you're covering (just the seat? seat and back? fully upholstered arms?). Here's a general guide:

Standard Dining Chair (Seat Only)

  • Upholstered seat only (no back, no arms):
0.5 to 0.75 yards per chair

Dining Chair with Upholstered Seat and Back

Seat and inside back only:
1 to 1.25 yards per chair Seat, inside and outside back:
1.5 to 2 yards per chair

Fully Upholstered Chair with Arms

2.5 to 3 yards per chair (or more)
